Cindy B.’s Story

Cindy B., from Rego Park, NY, was hit by a car on a summer afternoon just before her 50th birthday. She was walking in a crosswalk in Queens, on her way from her job as a receptionist for her bank. Medical attention revealed that the impact fractured two vertebrae in her neck and gave her a mild knee fracture. She was unable to work for weeks afterward.

J. Morales’ Story

E.D.’s Story

E.D., 18, was hit by a vehicle one late afternoon in January 2009 while she was crossing the street in her Hassidic Jewish neighborhood in Brooklyn. The impact fractured her left heel and left knee, requiring surgery.
