Irina P. was walking her usual route to work as a home health aide when she was struck by a vehicle as it was backing out of a driveway. The driver simply failed to look behind him. As a result, Irina P. was knocked down, tearing a ligament in her knee and suffering serious back injury.

A.F., a 68-year-old woman from the Bronx, was severely injured when she was walking home on her block and was hit by a negligent driver pulling out of a parking garage.

On the afternoon of Halloween 2007, Alex Levine, then a sophomore psychology major at New York University, was struck by a motor vehicle as he was leaving class. Alex was carefully crossing a street near Washington Square Park, carrying his school books, when a driver who was not paying attention to the road, ran into him and knocked him to the ground. The driver was from out of town and was only in the area to drop off friends for the West Village Halloween festivities taking place that night.
