Six-figure settlement for a knee injured when Brooklyn Resident Tripped and Fell on a Defective Sidedewalk

As Ilya T. was walking in Brooklyn from his home to his car, he stepped into a large hole that had formed on a cracked, uneven sidewalk and he tripped and fell. The pain in his left knee was immediate and when it did not subside the next day, Ilya had to be taken in an ambulance to the hospital.

33-year-old NYC Sanitation Worker Tears ACL in Workplace Accident

Brooklyn sanitation employee L.P. was walking through his regular work garage, as he had done daily the past 8 years, when a decayed platform crumbled beneath him. He had stepped onto the platform’s curb with his right leg, which twisted at his knee and ankle under the weight of the impact, causing him to fall. L.P.’s partner was walking with him at the time of the accident and witnessed the platform break and his partner’s subsequent fall. Shortly after, L.P. was taken in an ambulance from the worksite.

Longtime USPS Employee Receives $450,000 Settlement After Slip and Fall on Black Ice

45-year-old T.C. had been a United States Post Office employee for 25 years when she slipped and fell down icy stairs of a residence on her letter delivery route. Despite wearing her proper USPS regulated snow boots, the large patches of unsalted black ice on the building’s outdoor steps caused her to fall, tearing ligaments in her ankle and hitting her head as a result. Bystanders to the accident both heard and witnessed her fall and called an ambulance for T.C.

Senior Trips and Falls on Raised Cellar Door En Route Home from Coney Island Synagogue and Receives Substantial Settlement

R.S., an older religious Jewish man, suffered a trip and fall in the Coney Island portion of Brooklyn on his way to his home. R.S. was making his way home from the synagogue, when he tripped and fell over a raised cellar door. His left foot became caught on the raised edge of the cellar door and he immediately fell onto his knees, resulting in a torn meniscus in his right knee.

Russian Painter Falls From Ladder And Receives Settlement Greater Than Half Million Dollars

In the summer of 2014, Mr. R was seriously injured while painting and doing maintenance work at a New York summer camp. While painting the roof of a camp building, Mr. R fell from an unsafe ladder and suffered multiple injuries, including a fractured vertebrae and medial meniscal tears to his right and left knees, which later required surgeries. Mr. R found his way to the law firm of Hill & Moin and was extremely lucky that he did.
