Historic Building Renovator Miraculously Survives Fall and Obtains $1.2 Million Settlement

J.E. is a 60-year-old Honduran gentleman who was working on the roof of a historic manor using scaffolding and ladders to climb to the top of the building. As he stood on a ladder, and began to swing his hammer, he felt the boards on the scaffolding shift from below him. Suddenly, he began to fall, unable to grab anything to stop himself. J.E. fell 20 feet, hitting the scaffolding below, injuring his back and left shoulder.

Union Carpenter Receives $650,000 After Falling Off Scaffold at the Metropolitan Opera House for a Nonsurgical Shoulder Injury

A 30-year veteran union carpenter injured his shoulder when a scaffold collapsed at the Met. His working compensation attorney alerted S.M. to the fact that he might be entitled to compensation for his pain and suffering in a third-party lawsuit against Lincoln Center in addition to his worker’s compensation benefits. The lawyer referred the injured carpenter to Hill & Moin.

Undocumented Construction Worker Who Fell Off Scaffold Receives Life-Altering $1 Million Settlement

O.Q., an Undocumented construction worker from Mexico, was working at a construction site in Staten Island. O.Q. was instructed by his employer to complete work on top of an improperly balanced scaffold without any safety equipment. O.Q. followed instructions and while drilling, the scaffold became wobbly and he fell to the ground. He sustained head injuries and multiple fractures.

33-year-old NYC Sanitation Worker Tears ACL in Workplace Accident

Brooklyn sanitation employee L.P. was walking through his regular work garage, as he had done daily the past 8 years, when a decayed platform crumbled beneath him. He had stepped onto the platform’s curb with his right leg, which twisted at his knee and ankle under the weight of the impact, causing him to fall. L.P.’s partner was walking with him at the time of the accident and witnessed the platform break and his partner’s subsequent fall. Shortly after, L.P. was taken in an ambulance from the worksite.

St. Lucian Man Falls from Scaffold after Not Being Provided Safety Equipment, While Working on a Williamsburg, Brooklyn Construction Project

A.E., a middle-aged St. Lucian man, was working on a 3-story building construction project in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. A.E was screwing sheet rock into the walls, when one of the pieces of sheet rock began to move ultimately causing him to fall. Since he did not have a safety harness he fell to the ground, and fractured his right arm.
