Brooklyn sanitation employee L.P. was walking through his regular work garage, as he had done daily the past 8 years, when a decayed platform crumbled beneath him. He had stepped onto the platform’s curb with his right leg, which twisted at his knee and ankle under the weight of the impact, causing him to fall. L.P.’s partner was walking with him at the time of the accident and witnessed the platform break and his partner’s subsequent fall. Shortly after, L.P. was taken in an ambulance from the worksite.
