G.S., a hard working Pittsburgh woman, briefly working in Brooklyn, met some friends and co-workers for a late after work dinner at a nearby restaurant/bar in celebration of her return to Pittsburgh. As G.S. arrived at the establishment, a door saddle with an unusual raised second edge, caused her to trip and fall over it, falling onto her right hand, resulting in a ligament tear of two of her fingers.

F.B., a 59-year-old Manhattan resident, was crossing the street in Brooklyn when a vehicle making a left turn at the intersection drove directly into her. The impact knocked her to the ground, causing her to fracture her left leg and tear a ligament in her knee.

B.D.’s Story

A fall in front of a city housing project disrupted a young woman’s life, but Hill & Moin LLP helped get it back on track.

Britney, 22, fell three years ago on a defective sidewalk in front of a housing project in Brooklyn. She stubbed her shoe toe on a raised part of the sidewalk and fell, hurting her hand and knee. Unable to walk, she used her cell phone to call her stepfather, who took her to the hospital. The fall had torn a ligament in Britney’s knee, requiring surgery. She was no longer able to play basketball, one of her passions in life.
