A. L.’s Story

April 9th, 2010

A student was struck by a car on campus, so Hill & Moin LLP taught the negligent driver a lesson in justice.

On the afternoon of Halloween 2007, Alex Levine, then a sophomore psychology major at New York University, was struck by a motor vehicle as he was leaving class. Alex was carefully crossing a street near Washington Square Park, carrying his school books, when a driver who was not paying attention to the road, ran into him and knocked him to the ground. The driver was from out of town and was only in the area to drop off friends for the West Village Halloween festivities taking place that night.

The impact of the vehicle broke two bones in Alex’s leg, requiring surgery the next day and a second surgery the following year. In the hospital, he developed a staph infection. Alex could not resume his college studies for quite some time. When he did, what had been a comfortable twenty-minute walk from his home on Avenue C became a tortuous, hour-long debacle. He eventually had to move closer to campus and could not continue his beloved part-time job as a barista at a Starbucks.

Alex’s uncle knew Hill & Moin LLP’s reputation for excellence and suggested his nephew immediately look to the firm for legal representation. Hill & Moin LLP helped Alex recover $250,000 in medical expenses, lost wages, and compensation for pain and suffering for the injuries he sustained.

Now, Alex is 20 and about to graduate, and he praises the professionalism of Hill & Moin LLP: “Looking back, it was just a really good experience, and I was just really satisfied with the way things settled….I can’t even think of a negative aspect of it.” He said he always felt informed and cared for: “When you’re in a real crisis mode, it means a lot to you to know that what you’re going through, someone is going to be able to get justice for it.” Hear more from Alex by visiting videos and testimonials at www.hillmoin.com.
