Henry Mendia – An Immigrant’s Story

April 30th, 2010

A young Hispanic worker got hurt on the job, and Hill & Moin LLP got him a payday.

Henry Mendia, 27, from Queens was injured doing construction work as a day laborer almost three years ago. He was working below ground level when an unattended wheelbarrow crashed down on his head, neck, back, and shoulders. The impact knocked him unconscious for about 20 minutes. He ended up needing several stitches and losing his hearing in one ear. Henry’s boss followed him to the hospital and tried to buy his silence with a few thousands dollars.

As a young, Hispanic immigrant, Henry was among the most vulnerable members of society, and he might have accepted the small amount if a friend had not told him about the skill and compassion of the personal injury attorneys at Hill & Moin LLP. The attorneys brought a lawsuit on Henry’s behalf and recovered much more than the amount originally offered. Years after the accident, Henry still has pain, especially in the cold weather. But Hill & Moin LLP made the legal process painless.
