Religious Mother of Five Grateful for $150,000 Settlement After Slip and Fall on Unmarked Wet Stairs.

June 28th, 2018

40-year-old B.C., a mother of 5, was exiting her apartment building when she slipped and fell in the building’s lobby. The floor of the lobby and its short flight of stairs which B.C. slid down had just been mopped and were still entirely wet and soapy, although there was no proper cautionary signage or other warning.

The impact of the fall was felt immediately by B.C. in her right leg and hand, and her lower back. After the Hatzalah ambulance trip to the hospital, B.C. learned that she had suffered a vertebra fracture in her lower back. Because it was the Sabbath, her husband had to push her in a wheelchair all the way back to their home.

B.C. was employed by her synagogue, where she worked in exchange for the congregation’s assistance with her children’s school tuitions. Distressed after having to take 6 months off work due to her injury, she reached out to an attorney who referred her to Hill & Moin. Immediately, B.C. felt comfortable in the firm’s “very friendly atmosphere” and found the entire staff to be professional and helpful in dealing with her case. Now, with her $150,000 settlement, B.C’s financial stress has been alleviated.
