P.A.K., a Lehman College Adjunct Lecturer, suffered a double wrist fracture after exiting her physical therapy office to meet her husband in their car. As P.A.K. was walking to the car, she tripped and fell over an elevated sidewalk flagstone, causing her to fall forward. In response to the fall, P.A.K. braced for the impact by putting her hands out in front of her, making contact with hard snow piled along the sidewalk. P.A.K. thought nothing of the fall until the pain in her wrists became severe. At the hospital, she was found to have a fracture to both of her wrists, one of which would later require surgery.
