Thanks to Hill & Moin, Settlement From Woman’s Slip and Fall on an Icy Brooklyn Sidewalk Will Pay for Her Children’s College Educations

Early one winter morning, O.K., a 67-year-old Uzbekistani woman, was on her way to work. O.K. slipped on a mixture of ice and snow that had been cleared from the front entrance of a business and shoveled into her path on the sidewalk. A bystander helped O.K. up after her fall, and although she still made it to work, she had to leave for the ER shortly after arriving due to the severe pain in her right arm and shoulder.
The injuries O.K. sustained from that icy fall included a fractured wrist requiring immediate surgery and carpal tunnel syndrome of the same wrist, in addition to significant tears to her shoulder, which would eventually require surgery as well. O.K.’s injuries and difficult recovery forced her to take six months off work, and she experienced pain and a diminished capacity when she was able to return.
O.K. was referred to Hill & Moin by an attorney she knew. There, she was pleased by the professional environment and friendly staff. O.K. felt confident that she was well taken care of by Hill & Moin and that the process went very smoothly. She appreciated being assisted by Russian speaking attorneys and paralegals, so she was always updated and well-informed about her case and her options.
Now, O.K. plans to use her $230,000 settlement to help pay for her children’s higher education. She is grateful for Hill & Moin’s representation.
