A New York Police Department police officer from Yonkers, tripped and fell over negligently placed electrical wires at a police precinct. S.G.’s fellow officers drove him to the hospital, and he later realized the fall caused a torn meniscus in his right knee, requiring surgery.

Woman Hit by Negligent Driver

Administrative Worker Hit by a Truck

Justina Bastien, from Jamaica, Queens, was a 44-year-old administrative worker when she was involved in a car accident that permanently disabled her. One morning, an 18-wheeler rear-ended the car in which Ms. Bastien was riding and spun it around, according to the police report. She sustained a left knee tear that could not be treated by physical therapy alone, required surgery several months after the accident and might require another.

Injured Carpenter Recovers $200k

F.A., a Brooklyn man, 59, was working as a carpenter on a renovation project when he fell from a rolling scaffold, sustaining injuries. An ambulance carried him to an emergency room, and, when released, F.A. had continued medical treatment and was unable to work.

$375k Auto Accident Recovery

Hill & Moin LLP makes the City pay for a car accident injuring a young man.
M.M., 27, was hit by a NYC sanitation truck while driving home from a wedding in Borough Park, Brooklyn. The truck was trying to merge into his lane to avoid construction ahead on the BQE (Brooklyn-Queens Expressway). But the truck collided with M.M.’s vehicle and dragged it for several seconds, leaving it totaled and leaving the young man inside with herniated discs and torn muscles in his neck and back. M.M. underwent surgery for his injuries, but still was no longer able to work with his family’s construction company.
